Have your say on seclusion and restraint
People with a lived experience of mental ill health, their families and carers are encouraged to offer their views, as part of a National Mental Health Commission project, on the use of seclusion and restraint.
The project, in conjunction with the University of Melbourne, is looking at best practice in reducing and eliminating the use of seclusion and restraint. Workers from mental halth, general health, custodial and community settings are also being encouraged to complete the survey.
Mental Health in Multicultural
Australia (MHiMA) has signed up to the National Mental Health Commission's Seclusion and Restraint Declaration. The use of seclusion and restraint for mental health problems is a human rights issue. We urge health and community organisations, professionals and community members, to support this campaign and join with others to call for change.
