Dear friends and stakeholders
I am pleased to share this update with you following an exciting period for Embrace Multicultural Mental Health (the Embrace Project).
We were delighted to be joined by many of you for the official launch of the Embrace Project at the Multicultural Hub in Melbourne on 16 August 2019. This was a significant milestone for the project, and we are deeply grateful to all presenters and attendees for making it such a meaningful event.
Special thanks goes to our speakers Niharika Hiremath (National Mental Health Commission), Tandi Kuwana (CALD Mental Health Consumer & Carer Group), Chiedza Malunga (Monash Refugee Clinic) and Ali Noura (CALD Mental Health Consumer & Carer Group) alongside our Alliance partners Frank Quinlan (Mental Health Australia), Mohammad Al-Khafaji (FECCA) and Dwayne Cranfield (NEDA).
You can take a look at the Launch Highlights video in our newsletter to get a sense of the great energy present on the day. We look forward to taking this positive energy forward as we continue to address these significant challenges together.
I also highly recommend you watch the Voices of Lived Experience video in our newsletter, which features representatives of our CALD Mental Health Consumer and Carer Group speaking about their perspectives and what "Embrace" means to them. We look forward to continuing to work with representatives to share more lived experience stories with you in future, as a key way to promote understanding and drive real change.
I warmly invite you to check out the other information and opportunities available in our newsletter, and to get involved in the project and make use of its resources in any way you can. This includes an invitation to attend our upcoming webinar and state/territory workshops on the redeveloped Framework for Mental Health in Multicultural Australia.
Please also don't hesitate to reach out to the Embrace Project Team if there is a news item, resource or opportunity you would like us to share in future.
Warm regards
Ruth Das
